Nearing the end of the Moto GP Season

Round 6 has been and gone. We are ever closer to crowning our first moto gp champion.

This week, we turned the grid around and ran in reverse direction. Of course the riders welcomed this change ;)

After some airbourne antics...

The qualifying times looked like:
Shadow mannonen 27.10

AgrenDarkstar failed to record a time, leaving just 3 for the final race

At the finish line, the order stayed the same. Leaving the current league standings at:

1st - Erin Davies - 102pts
2nd - Wes Scorpio & Shadow mannonen - 50 points
3rd - Saphyra Melodie - 35pts
3rd - Kandy Tomorrow - 25pts

MOTO GP Update

As you're all probably aware, last weeks moto gp was cancelled due to staff shortages.
This means we will have an extra date added to the league, so the last race now takes place on the 6/12.
This is posted on the events board in the pits, and also our events calendar which you can go to by clicking the link on the right of this page

Next moto gp is 25/11 - hope to see you there :)

HCN04: October

Just when you thought it was safe to return to the pits, HCN04 is already looming!

Yup, Saturday 15th October is the next date for our monthly cruise n' party event at the Corse track... Usual thing... Park up your hottest, baddest street racing hardware and party with us when we close down the main straight and turn it into SL's premiere car cruise. I'm taking the month off from DJ duties, so the music will be handled by Todd Squall and I'll be partying with everyone else...

As well as the usual party, we're also bringing back the "Pimp Your Ride" competition at HCN04 in October. Once again, we're looking for some really radically designed and modified cars, pushing the envelope of tuning. Whether it's a scratch built design, a car designed from a premade shell, or your own twist on something already out there with some cool attachments, we want to see it. As last time, there are prizes, trophies and cash to be won.

Here's a brief run through of the rules:

No Copybotted cars or components. When we say 'no', we mean it and anyone using or suspected of using illegally copied parts in their builds will be disqualified.

Cars must be drivable, so a maximum of 31 prims, with multi-prim attachments if needed

Cars must be realistically proportioned, sized etc.

There are no real limits for creativity other than your mind, so with a few weeks and a myriad of body shells, rims, engines and other components out there to choose from, you should have no problems in creating some truly awesome cars. To assist you with exceeding the prim limits, you can of course make some parts as attachments. Here's a really cool and very handy demo of an Attachment Script to help you. I use this script and it's very good and simple to implement too.

If the recognition and respect of your peers when you proudly show them off at HCN04 isn't enough, we've also got some cool prizes too...

Prizes

1st place - Trophy , L$500 and a Prefabrica car of your choice
2nd place - Trophy, L$200 and a Prefabrica paint scheme of your choice
3rd place - Trophy and L$200

This competition is open to anyone and everyone, except Prefabrica and Corse GP staff. Entrants will be judged by us at HCN04 in October, so you have a few weeks to build your sweet sweet ride...

Moto GP, The Story So Far...

Yesterday saw the latest round in the Corse Moto GP series, which once again was a well fought battle to the finish line...

With possibly the largest field of entrants so far, it was a great meet and well attended by the loyal fans too, which was really nice to see...

As usual, Wees did a great job organising and coordinating the race meet with qualifying being split into two rounds so the grid lineup was as follows:

1st Wes Scorpio: 00:19.18
2nd Saphyra Melodie: 00:19.76
3rd Marcomr2 Zenovka: 00:31.36
4th WillSampson Resident: 00:33.76
5th Erin Davies: 00:35.80
6th Olivier Bobair: 00:41.26

Wes snatched Pole Position with Saphyra snapping at his heels with another sub 20 second lap with the rest of the field taking a little longer to reach the finish line to close the qualifying session.

The race itself was the usual thrill a minute with Wes taking the lead from the hole shot and never looking back. Saphyra suffered local lag issues and sadly withdrew from the race, leaving everyone else chasing each other for 2nd place behind Wes. At the drop of the chequered flag, the results were as follows:

1 Wes Scorpio 00:03:58(11)
2 Erin Davies - 2 laps
3 Marcomr2 Zenovka - 2 laps
4 WillSampson Resident - 4 laps
5 Olivier Bobair - 4 laps
6 Saphyra Melodie - 9 laps

So, after 3 rounds of the Moto GP season complete, the current leaderboard looks like this:

1st - Erin Davies - 46pts
2nd - Saphyra Melodie - 35pts
3rd - Kandy Tomorrow - 25pts
3rd - Wes Scorpio - 25pts
5th - Deano Kharg - 20pts
6th - Marcomr2 Zenovka - 16pts
7th - WillSampson Resident - 13pts
8th - Olivier Bobair - 11pts

So, with 3 races down and still 5 to go, the league is wide open and can still be won by someone who's not even raced yet...

The Corse Moto GP League is open to everyone* and all models of Prefabrica superbikes, from the PFB900 models, the PFB999 Zanzo, SGP500 bikes and the new mesh SGP1000 and SGP1100 which is a purpose build race model and ideal for the Moto GP League, so why not check the calendar for the next race meeting, grab a Prefabrica bike and come and see if you've got what it takes to win the Moto GP League.

*Bytegang, Prefabrica & Corse GP staff ineligable for entry

Calling all Tuners and Modifiers...

As you know, we're big on representing the tuning & modifying scene in SL... The monthly HCN parties are just one of the ways we show our love for the scene and the recent "Pimp Your Ride" competition brought out some cool street rides.

So, If you're into creating some kick-ass custom rides and want the edge, Prefabrica have come up with 2 mesh rim designs for you... The Nordschleife and the San Marino, both available through Marketplace are full perm and ready for use. As with all mesh products, you will need the latest V3 compatible viewer to see these items correctly.

So, with the next "Pimp Your Ride" competition coming up in October, these are perfect for adding a little something extra to that special entry ride. Also, these are just the first in a line of future Tuner products from Prefabrica, so stay tuned and don't forget to add us to your bookmarks and RSS feeds to make sure you stay up to date with the releases...

Fast Cars n' Deep Pockets...

So, in my earlier post, I hinted at something we'll be doing after the Hot Corse Nights party on September 17th...

If you want to take part, you'll need a Corse GP racing HUD, a fast car and deep pockets, because we're gonna be running some 'buy in' races. It's a simple premise, each person hands over a predetermined amount of money to one track official, they race 10 laps and the winner takes the lot. We'll run a few 'buy in' races after the party, so you'll have the opportunity to win your money back if you get beaten... Seeing as the HCN parties are the social side of the Tuner scene at the track, it seems only right that we switch up the racing for those nights too... If they're popular, they could become a regular monthly thing along with the HCN parties...

The 'buy in' amount won't be astronomical, however if people decide they want to up the ante for a particular race, all parties must match the amount, or withdraw, so if you don't fancy risking too much money, you won't have to. There might also be one or two surprises on the circuit too, so you can practice all you like, but you'll still get caught out on the night ;)

So, see you for HCN03 on Saturday 17th September at 3pm SL for the party and then a couple of hours later, we're doing it fast and furious around the track ;)

HCN03 - September

Just a little courtesy post to inform the uninitiated about the Hot Corse Nights parties that we hold at the track every month. We've moved them to the 3rd Saturday of each month now, just so you're aware...

September sees the usual park n' show style party, with me once again taking control of the decks for the tunes but this time, we've got a little twist after the party. I'll give a little clue about that later.

So, for the newcomers to the whole HCN idea, we basically shut down the track for a couple of hours every month, park out our hottest, baddest and most modified rides and then dance, chat n' party on the main straight. It's a celebration of tuning culture.

HCN03 won't see the return of the "Pimp Your Ride" competition, as mentioned previously, that'll be back for HCN04, so this time around, we thought we'd inject a little healthy competition after the festivities have finished... I'm not going to give too much away now, but as the poster says, you'll need a fast car and deep pockets ;)

See you all there!

Once Were Pimps...

Last weekend saw the second of the monthly Hot Corse Nights cruise parties at the track... We had plenty of top quality hardware on display as well as the entries for the first "Pimp Your Ride" competition.

Before I move on to the winners, I'd like to say that we were a little disappointed with the lack of entries for the competition and whilst there were plenty of cars entered, most of them were by the same people, so the actual number of entrants was below what we had hoped for... We had excuses of people not knowing about it, but with 5 weeks notice, blog posts and group notices/chat sessions, it was pretty hard to miss us talking about it. Anyway, just to let you all know, you've got TWO months to prepare for the next one, which will be judged at HCN04 in October ;)

Right, onto the winners...

In Third place, we had Will Sampson's tidy little Corolla AE86, which he'd done some substantial mod work on... This was the kind of car we wanted to see. Something shop bought, given that extensive personal touch and turned into a one of a kind ride...

Second place went to Erin Davies' scratch built classic GP racer... Whilst not something we expected to see, the fact that it was built completely by Erin, from the ground up, including custom scratchbuilt sculpty parts meant that we had to acknowledge the amount of work put into the build...

However, First place went to Dave79 Resident for his 911 GT3 build. Using a commercially available shell, he'd kitted it out to resemble something from the 'Fast & Furious' series of films, which is exactly what we were expecting when we launched this competition...

So, if you want the chance to win cash and cool Prefabrica prizes, you've got TWO months to sort out a killer ride for the competition. Full details and rules will be posted here in about a month's time, so there'll be no excuses for not knowing about it this time... ;)

MOTO GP - The season opens

Tuesday saw the first race of the season. I have to say the turnout was very disappointing, and we had some teething problems, but we all got out on track and hopefully had a blast in the end :)
Qualifying rounds Saw erin taking pole with 37.66 Followed by Deano at 42.79. The race results and current league standings are:
1st - saphyra Melodie 25 points
2nd - Deano Kharg 20 points
3rd - Erin davies 16 points

In the following PFB999 race, we turned the tables on the riders by running the track in reverse . The results were almost identical to the league race with Saphyra taking 1st and Deano being the 2nd non staff member to finish (a few staff members got in the middle of this race lol)

Our next bike race is on 30/8 @ 12pm SL Time. This event is open too all models of prefabrica bikes.

A new machine hits the bike league

Bikers prepare for a shake up... We have a new speed machine ...

This is the brand new PFB999 Zanzo , and it's causing a stir already. Mostly because it's hyper fast. Currently the lap record for this is 20.33 (held by meeeee :) ) compared to 31.30 for the old PFB900 (ignore the 26.44 - that was completed on a beta model)
With less than a week to go until the first moto gp race, it wouldn't be fair to introduce this now. But, those that have purchased will be itching to ride it in anger. So, here's what we'll do...
For the first moto gp race on 16/8 the PFB999 will not be included. However, there will be a special one off race just for the PFB999 right after.
Every other league race will be open for all bike models. Hopefully this has given everyone that needed to save up enough time to grab the speed monster and get an equal standing in the moto gp :)

Hot Corse Nights - HCN02

Yup, it's official! Hot Corse Nights returns to the Corse GP track on Saturday August 13th, 3-5pm SLT as usual. Once again, I'll be on the decks to provide a live mixed soundtrack and I'm hoping you'll all come down and party with me.

We're hoping for more cars, more people, more music and more fun and if the pits get too crowded, we'll just have to close the race track and part out on the main straight... What a pity eh? ;) Bring your bestest, baddest ride and park it up, polish it and show it off to the world.

As well as the HCN02 party, we'll also be judging the entries in the first "Pimp Your Ride" competition too, which I've already blogged about here, so if you missed the details, just check the post history.

Oh and if you want to get a better look at the poster, just click it ;)

Corse GP invites you to Pimp Your Ride

Corse GP's 'Pimp Your Ride' Competition

Yup, you're not seeing things, we're really holding a competition to mod your ride and win some cool prizes.

We're looking for the best modified or original ride in SL. There are a few simple rules to adhere to and some great prizes on offer. The winners will be picked at the next Hot Corse Nights cruise party in August, giving you a while to sort out your whip...

Here's a brief run through of the rules:

No Copybotted cars or components

Cars must be drivable, so a maximum of 31 prims, with multi-prim attachments if needed

Cars must be realistically proportioned, sized etc.

There are no real limits for creativity other than your mind, so with a month and a myriad of body shells, rims, engines and other components out there to choose from, you should have no problems in creating some truly awesome cars. To assist you with exceeding the prim limits, you can of course make some parts as attachments. Here's a really cool and very handy demo of an Attachment Script to help you. If the recognition and respect of your peers when you proudly show them off at HCN02 isn't enough, we've also got some cool prizes too...

Entrants will be judged by us at HCN02 in August, details of that will follow soon, but you have a few weeks to build your sweet sweet ride...

Good Luck!!

You Should've Been There...

Last weekend saw the first Hot Corse Nights party at the track... Attendance was good for the first party, peaking at about 24 people which made the pit lane a very crowded place to be.

We had a good selection of quality hardware parked up on display, some cars created especially for the night too (some of us were still building them that day). We're hoping for an even bigger and better event next time too and also waiting for our resident photographer Weesutcliffe Streeter to get back from his holiday so we can develop his pics and post them.

Music wise, the party was excellent with one of SL's best DJs spinning on the decks, in the trunk of a specially modified car. Mind you, I would say the DJ was brilliant, because I was the DJ ;)

Information regarding the next HCN party is coming up, so stay tuned... We'll also be judging the "Pimp Your Ride" competition too, which was launched at HCN01, more details on that also to follow...

If you came along to HCN01, we'd love to know your thoughts, so feel free to post your comments.

A free gift for modders

Hopefully all you modders are hard at work making a cool ride for the next HCN? To help you along I'm giving away a wheel script. It's a menu that will let you load 3 sculpt maps and their corresponding textures. Then you can touch the wheel, pick a new one and all 4 will change ;)
To get it, just visit Corse and touch the rules board.
